"Yoga and I connected in the early 2000s through
Kriya Yoga and then with the Ottawa Men’s Yoga group, begun by Loren Crawford in 2007. With Loren’s encouragement,
I completed my Yoga Alliance-recognized 200-hour Hatha teacher training program at the Upward Dog Yoga Centre in 2009.
I am currently pursuing further teacher training toward my 500-hour certification.
No stranger to body work, I practiced and taught
Tai Chi before stumbling onto therapeutic and sports massage, which I've offered since the early 90s part-time almost exclusively to the men’s community. I
also volunteered as a massage therapist at the Living Room (the drop-in centre affiliated
to the AIDS Committee of Ottawa) for a few years in the mid-90s.
More often than not, the massage table graciously moves aside to make room for the yoga
mat, from which I enjoy continuing to work with Ottawa’s men’s
community and making sense of the daily challenges of combining a sound body, a sound mind and a
balanced lifestyle.
I am an avid environmentalist and a strong believer in
healthy nutrition and a responsible, physically active lifestyle.
Everything
goes hand in hand, and with everything I get involved in, I practice the 'tread lightly' approach.
